LOCAL #BLESSED CAMPAIGN ENCOURAGES ENGAGEMENT ON SOCIAL MEDIA TO SUPPORT THOSE IN NEED THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

Greenville, SC | November 30, 2017 – FUEL, a local integrated digital and traditional marketing firm, and Greenville-based Smoak Public Relations along with area restaurants are encouraging the Greenville community to use the popular hashtag #blessed throughout the holiday season for a charitable cause that will benefit Greenville’s Harvest Hope Food Bank. Each time the hashtag is used as detailed below, one can of food will be donated to aid those in need this holiday season. The campaign is set to run December 1 through December 24, 2017.

“The hashtag #blessed is one of the most often used in social media and not always in the truest sense of what being blessed is all about,” says Warren Griffith, president of FUEL. “We wanted to take back that hashtag, capitalizing on its popular use to actually help those in need this season.”

In essence, the #blessed Holiday Campaign is an organic social campaign initiated by FUEL, in partnership with Smoak PR and local restaurants, to leverage #blessed on social media, in particular Instagram, and provide donations of canned food to Harvest Hope Food Bank whenever the hashtag is used with defined parameters. As an organic social campaign, it is important that the community uses the hashtag and encourage others to do the same to help provide for those who are less fortunate this holiday season.

The goal is to donate 5,000 cans to Harvest Hope Food Bank.

 

To participate, the Greenville community is being asked to do the following;

1. Eat at a local restaurant

2. Take a picture of their meal

3. Post it on Instagram

4. Use #blessed (& tell how they have been blessed) And

5. Tag @harvesthopefb­

Magnolia Park Holiday Event Raises Funds for Local School District

Money will be donated to Greenville County Schools Foundation

Greenville, South Carolina | November 20, 2017 – Magnolia Park Shopping Center in Greenville hosted its annual holiday event, an Evening with Santa and Mrs. Claus, on Sunday, November 19th from 4:30 to 6 P.M. in the courtyard outside of Regal Cinema    s. Situated off I-385 and I-85 on Woodruff Road, Magnolia Park is the area’s premier destination for shopping, dining and entertainment in Greenville.

This family-friendly event included music and entertainment, festive arts and crafts, and dinner and dessert with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Children and their families enjoyed the opportunity to take pictures with Santa Claus, who arrived on a Greenville Fire Department Fire Truck.  With 300 people in attendance, proceeds totaling $900 will be donated to the Greenville County Schools Foundation

The donation will fund national trips for extracurricular teams within the Greenville County School District. Such funds will assist in covering travel expenses, etc. in order for student teams to continue competing on a regional or national level.

SPINX HOSTS UPCOMING HOLIDAY MARKET

GREENVILLE, SCNOVEMBER 1, 2017 Upstate Forever is hosting their annual ForeverGreen Awards Luncheon on February 27th, 2018 at the Embassy Suites on Verdae Boulevard. The luncheon celebrates individuals and organizations for significant contributions in fields related to conservation and sustainable growth.

Upstate Forever’s Executive Director, Andrea Cooper, is excited to celebrate the individuals and organizations in the community who are actively working to effect change. “We are honored to recognize those who are passionate about protecting natural resources in the Upstate and who have made it their mission to improve the area in which we live. To be successful, we must work together as a community to make the Upstate an even better place,” Cooper said.

This year’s keynote speaker will be Cheri Chastain, Sustainability Manager for Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. Chastain has worked for Sierra Nevada since 2006. In her position, she educates employees on environmental issues and programs, maintains and develops policies and projects related to renewable energy and energy efficiency, and manages zero waste efforts. She is also vice chair of the City of Chico’s Sustainability Task Force, co-chairs the Brewers Association Sustainability Subcommittee, and is on the board of the US Zero Waste Business Council.

This year’s award recipients include:

  • Land Conservation Award: Spartanburg School District 6-Farm to School Initiative for model land use and local food program initiatives educating students on healthy eating and agricultural education.
  • Clean Water Award: Catherine Heigel for her leadership in creating a South Carolina Adopt A Stream volunteer water quality monitoring program.
  • Land Planning and Policy Award: Dean Hybl for going above and beyond his job description on land use policy, especially with the Shaping Our Future
  • Public Servant of the Year: Representative Gary Clary for standing up for conservation issues over the past year and multiple instances of conservation support.
  • Volunteer of the Year: Luther Lyle for outstanding conservation work in Oconee County and protecting the Oconee Town Site.

Goodwill Industries Celebrates at 9th Annual Champions Tribute

Greenville, SC | October 20, 2017 – Every year since 2009, Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands SC has celebrated successes of South Carolina residents whose lives have changed as a result of Goodwill’s education and training initiatives with an awards dinner. The Goodwill Champions Tribute was held on Thursday, October 19 at the TD Convention Center. Kevin Sorbo, international TV and film actor, stroke survivor and author of True Strength, delivered an inspirational keynote address for the evening.

Honored were four individuals who have overcome adversity and found employment through various job placement programs, as well as one employer and one partner organization who support the mission of Goodwill. Award recipients for 2017 were:

Magnolia Park Hosts First Annual Team Spirit Celebration 

Hurricane Relief Fundraiser Drives Families to Shopping Center for FootballThemed Event 

GREENVILLE, SC | October 3, 2017 – On Saturday, Magnolia Park Shopping Center held its first annual Team Spirit Celebration to raise funds for hurricane relief efforts following devastation caused by hurricanes Irma and Harvey. Situated off of I-385 and I-85 on Woodruff Road, Magnolia Park is the area’s premier destination for shopping, dining and entertainment in Greenville.

This free event featured live music by The Sound Committee, lawn games, face painting and giveaways for guests. Families and tenants dressed in game day gear, sporting their team’s colors, as they enjoyed tailgate festivities. Restaurants located in the shopping center provided game day deals to welcome fans in for the broadcasting of both the Clemson and South Carolina football games.

In the wake of two devastating hurricanes, guests were encouraged to donate funds to benefit the relief efforts in Florida and Texas through the American Red Cross. Magnolia Park strives to be a top destination for the community while always working to make a positive community impact, and implemented this event as a way to celebrate the community and give back to those in need.
